Domino's group COO Michael Gillespie.

Michael Gillespie said in a LinkedIn post that he would soon wrap up his 16-and-a-half years at the company.

A spokesperson told iTnews that Gillespie hadn’t settled on “a new challenge” yet and would remain at Domino's Pizza Enterprises (DPE) for the next few months.

“Michael will continue to serve at Domino’s until mid-September, after which he plans to take time to review different opportunities before embarking on his next challenge," the spokesperson said.

“During this period, he looks forward to spending quality time with his family and pursuing his passion for motor racing.”

Gillespie has been group COO since August last year. He said in the LinkedIn post that he “could no longer find the spark at DPE that allowed me to give the 110 percent I needed in my role."

"I felt it was the right time for me to hand over control of the group e-commerce, marketing, digital, data and shared services wheels to others in the business.”

The DPE spokesperson said that Gillespie had “played a pivotal role in transforming Domino’s into one of Australia’s most sophisticated online and digital retailers.

His time included overseeing "development and implementation of an advanced online ordering platform" that now processes more than $3 billion in sales, "and various other world-class digital initiatives,” the spokesperson added.

Gillespie previously held roles at Domino’s including group chief digital and technology officer in 2017 when the position was expanded from chief digital officer in 2014.

Before working at the pizza maker, Gillespie spent time at Virgin Blue (Virgin Australia), Australian Insurance Holdings (Budget Direct) and QBD The Bookshop.
