The higher education institution, which has eight onshore campuses plus two offshore, has created a head of technology and security position to “develop [a] comprehensive technology and security strategy, embracing emerging tech and risk management”.

According to Torrens’ job advertisement, the new hire will "curate and execute a roadmap for security, cloud platforms, infrastructure, service management, and data".

Specifically in these areas, they will define a "cyber security roadmap, mature IT service management practices, oversee cloud platforms, enable data to be an asset, and drive innovation and operational excellence daily."

The new hire will report to Steve Marks, Torrens University's director of IT.

“This is a newly created role to support Torrens University’s ongoing growth and commitment to digital innovation, transformation, and cyber security," a university spokesperson told iTnews.

“This is a key leadership role... and will support Torrens to develop and manage a roadmap for platform management, cloud services and empower a security aware culture that supports our operations.”

The university added that it wanted to "embed practice and process maturity across IT”.
